Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility

Overview

NYC Service is excited to announce the second iteration of our popular training series, A Strategic Approach to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) for NYC Nonprofit Boards, a free, introductory 2-part training series for nonprofit executives.

This virtual training series for nonprofit executives and board members is based on NYC Service’s 2018 report recommendations and aims to move away from a surface-level understanding of DEIA to focus on building a deepened and common framework that works to harness board support and action. More specifically, attendees will learn how to:

  • Articulate a common language around DEIA and its benefits
  • Build the internal support and the infrastructure to mobilize change
  • Create strategic (and tangible) DEIA goals and practices for implementation
  • Dedicate the board and organization to sustained awareness and accountability

This training is for New York City Nonprofit boards members and Executive Directors/CEO from across the 5 boroughs and representing different sub-sectors. Trainings are hosted by NYC Service and facilitated by a DEI nonprofit board development specialist.

Trainings will be held virtually from 10:00 am to 11:30 am this June on the following dates:

  • Thursday, June 16, 2022
  • Thursday, June 23, 2022

Eligibility

Please note that spots are limited. Preference will be given to organizations that commit the attendance of both the ED/CEO and a board member at every training due to the nature of some activities taking place during the trainings. EDs/CEOs and board members MUST EACH submit separate applications. For organizations that are run by the board and do not have an ED/CEO position, the Board President may apply in addition to another board member.
