Are you an NYC nonprofit or City agency looking to expand your impact? Become an AmeriCorps host site with NYC Service and receive capacity-building support to achieve your mission and reach more New Yorkers.

AmeriCorps members #GetThingsDone across New York City -- helping nonprofits and City agencies build programs, mobilize volunteers, and engage communities. Our host site partners play a critical role in addressing NYC's most pressing needs -- all while developing the next generation of civic leaders.

What Do AmeriCorps Members Do?

Hosting an AmeriCorps member can help your organization develop new initiatives, reach new communities, and gain fresh perspectives to achieve your agency's most ambitious goals.

NYC Service AmeriCorps members specifically support in the areas below:

  • Community Outreach & Engagement
  • Data & Evaluation
  • Program Development
  • Volunteer Management & Recruitment

Members serve at their host sites full-time (~35 hours per week) 10-month terms, from September 2025 through June 2026.

 

Is Your Agency Eligible?

To be eligible, host sites must:

  • Be an NYC City agency or 501(c)3 nonprofit organization
  • Designate a full-time staff member to supervise and support the member on-site
  • Provide space and technology access to the member
  • Ensure proposed activities fall within allowed AmeriCorps guidelines
  • Commit to paying a participation fee per member, dependent on organization type and budget

Host site supervisors commit to attending a full-day orientation in July/August 2025, as well as quarterly virtual training sessions throughout the program year.


How To Apply

  1. Confirm Your Eligibility & Gather Application Materials.
    You'll need the following to apply:
    • Online Application (coming soon)
    • Position Description
    • Most Recent Form 990 (nonprofits only) 
    • EEO/Sexual Harassment Policy
       
  2. Submit Your Application & Position Description.
     
  3. Complete a Supervisor Interview.
    New host sites, projects, and/or supervisors are required to interview; returning sites and supervisors may be asked to interview depending on project details

2025-2026 host sites will be notified of their acceptance in late March 2025.
AmeriCorps members will begin service in September 2025.

National Service Leadership Council of New York City

The council mobilizes more than twenty National Service programs from within the five boroughs to strengthen AmeriCorps programs and enhance the member experience, focusing on partnerships to increase recruitment and retention, bolster professional development opportunities, and collaborate on member engagement.

Any NYC-based AmeriCorps program is eligible to participate. If you're interested in joining or attending an upcoming meeting, please email nationalservice@cityhall.nyc.gov.
