Host a NYCHA Health Corps Member

NYCHA Health Corps Overview for Host Sites

NYCHA Health Corps is a new Public Health AmeriCorps program administered by NYC Service in close partnership with NYCHA, in which authorized NYCHA residents are recruited to serve full time at community-based nonprofits and public agencies for 10 months.

NYCHA Health Corps will provide an opportunity for NYCHA residents to receive training and work experience in areas that promote health and wellness. Each NYCHA Health Corps member’s role serves to support partners in expanding their focus on interventions that advance equitable health outcomes across public housing developments. By leveraging the national AmeriCorps model centered on leadership development and public service, members add value to organization priorities, goals, and initiatives, and support in delivering vital resources or programming to more NYCHA residents.

Program Goals:

  1. Support health and community partners in expanding their focus in interventions that advances equitable health outcomes across public housing developments.

  2. Create pathways for NYCHA residents into public health related careers.
