Host an NYC Civic Corps Member
NYC Civic Corps Program Overview for Host Sites
NYC Civic Corps, an AmeriCorps program launched in 2009 by NYC Service, recruits and places AmeriCorps members to serve full time at select nonprofit host sites. NYC Civic Corps members build, develop, and grow stronger volunteer programs in order to better serve or reach more New Yorkers. The NYC Civic Corps program objectives are to:
- Build organizational capacity for civic and community engagement through addressing pressing volunteer-specific needs and opportunities as identified by nonprofit partners.
- Provide Civic Corps members with workforce skills and pathways to quality careers with advancement opportunities.
- Create opportunities for civic leadership development.
NYC Civic Corps Mission: NYC Civic Corps builds the volunteer program capacity at nonprofit partners in all 5 boroughs to more effectively and efficiently address critical needs in the areas of Disaster Services, Economic Opportunity, Environmental Stewardship, Education/Youth Development and Healthy Futures (public health and hunger).
NYC Civic Corps Vision: Nonprofit host sites have more robust volunteer recruitment, training and management, allowing them to better serve their community.

The interview is a time for NYC Service to learn more about your supervision experience, go over expectations for the upcoming program year, and discuss your proposed project(s)
- Note for returning host site applicants: Past performance as a host site will be discussed during the supervisor interview and taken into consideration when evaluating the overall application.
Step 5: Accept your Offer!
- If selected, each host site will sign an MOU agreeing to the terms of having an AmeriCorps member placed at your host site. This will include agreeing to the financial commitment. The MOU and a partial amount of the financial commitment is due before members will be able to start at the host site. (See payment schedule on sources of funding and commitment sheet).
