Join a network of motivated New Yorkers working to address the City's most pressing issues. In an NYC Service AmeriCorps program, expect to make an impact on your community and grow as a civic leader.

NYC Service AmeriCorps members serve at City agencies or NYC nonprofits, dedicating 10-month terms (September to June) to meaningful capacity-building projects. Whether conducting outreach, developing awareness campaigns, or recruiting new volunteers, AmeriCorps members contribute their time and skills to effecting positive change within New York City neighborhoods.

Why Join AmeriCorps?

NYC Service AmeriCorps members earn valuable resume-building professional experience while building connections within and gaining exposure to City government or the NYC nonprofit sector. Members also receive the following benefits during their service term:

  • Living allowance (up to $21,250 - $23,800, pre-tax)
  • Monthly 30-Day Unlimited MetroCards
  • 15 days PTO, plus recognized calendar holidays
  • Loan forbearance
  • Healthcare coverage
  • Childcare assistance, if eligible
  • Eligible for SNAP benefits
  • Monthly training and networking opportunities

Individuals who complete their service term are also eligible to receive an Eli Segal AmeriCorps Education Award (valued at $5,176) upon completion, to put toward existing student loans or future education opportunities.

NYC Civic CorpsMobilize Volunteers - NYC Civic Corps 

NYC Civic Corps recruits and places AmeriCorps members to serve full-time from September 2024 to June 2025 at select nonprofit organizations. NYC Civic Corps members build, develop, and grow volunteer programs by recruiting, managing, and engaging volunteers to address priority issues in New York City.

City Service CorpsEngage Communities - City Service Corps 

City Service Corps recruits individuals to serve full-time from September 2024 to June 2025 at City agency host sites. City Service Corps is comprised of high-impact service projects led by city agencies in impact areas addressing critical capacity and community-related issues.

AmeriCorpsImprove Health Outcomes - NYCHA Health Corps 

NYCHA Health Corps is a new and exciting Public Health AmeriCorps program administered by NYC Service in close partnership with the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), in which NYCHA residents are recruited to serve full-time at community-based nonprofits and public agencies for 10 months from September 2024 to June 2025

NYC VISTABuild Capacity to Allieviate Poverty - NYC VISTA

VISTA members serve at New York City government agencies full-time from July 2024 to August 2025 to address critical city issues related to poverty by engaging in capacity-building work. Capacity building refers to tasks and activities that create, expand or strengthen the systems and processes that help an organization carry out its anti-poverty work.

Young Adult Success Corps

Young Adult Success Corps is under the branch of City Service Corps. Young Adult Success Corps recruits young adults under probation supervision to serve part-time from September 2024 to June 2025 at City agencies and CBOs. Young Adult Success Corps serves as both an important strategy for solving local challenges, but also a workforce development program for members and the City.
