As an NYC Service AmeriCorps member, you’ll receive real-world professional experience at a City agency or non-profit to tackle some of New York City’s most pressing challenges. Join NYC Service AmeriCorps to explore public sector careers and we will equip you with the tools and connections you need to jumpstart your career and make an impact in your city.
During your 10-month service term (September to June) you’ll get paid to serve your city, channel your passions, and prepare for future careers by practicing project management, community engagement, and workforce readiness at your host site. NYC Service sets you up for success during and after your service term--connecting you to a cohort of future public leaders, providing you with professional development trainings & career planning, and offering additional benefits.

Our members are managing volunteers in food pantries, cleaning up streets and local parks, mentoring youth, responding to city emergencies, and connecting low-income communities to health resources. Whatever your passion, NYC Service AmeriCorps has a position for you!

NYC Service AmeriCorps members earn valuable resume-building professional experience while building connections within and gaining exposure to City government or the NYC nonprofit sector. Members also receive the following benefits during their service term:
- Living allowance (up to $23,800, pre-tax)
- Monthly 30-Day Unlimited MetroCards
- 15 days PTO, plus recognized calendar holidays
- Loan forbearance
- Healthcare coverage
- Childcare assistance, if eligible
- Eligible for SNAP benefits
- Monthly training and networking opportunities
Individuals who complete their service term are also eligible to receive an Eli Segal AmeriCorps Education Award (valued at $5,176) upon completion, to put toward existing student loans or future education opportunities.
