Mobilize Volunteers with NYC Civic Corps
NYC Civic Corps, launched in 2009, recruits and places AmeriCorps members to serve full-time from September 2024 to June 2025 at select nonprofit organizations. NYC Civic Corps members build, develop, and grow volunteer programs by recruiting, managing, and engaging volunteers to address impact areas that are priorities of New York City.

Civic Corps members lend their skills to recruiting, managing, and engaging volunteers across NYC. With nonprofit partners in all five boroughs, it's easy to find a site in your community that aligns with your passions. A full list of open positions can be found here.

- Application Process
- Step 1: Submit an Application
When you request an application you will receive a link that will allow you to save your progress and return later.
- Step 2: Complete a Phone Screen
Selected applicants will be invited to join a 25-minute phone interview with an NYC Service staff member. During the interview, you'll share more about your background and experiences, and discuss specific available positions.
- Step 3: Interview with Host Site
If a position that fits your skills and interests is available, we'll connect you with one of our host site supervisors for a virtual interview. This interview will focus on skills specific to the site and position. You may be selected to interview for up to three (3) positions.
- Step 4: Offers Made!
If the supervisor you interviewed with would like to offer you the position, you'll be notified by an NYC Service staff member.
- Member Benefits
- Living allowance of up to $21,250 (pre-tax) distributed evenly throughout the term
- MetroCard for commuting to and from service
- Eli Segal AmeriCorps Education Award (valued at $5,176) upon successful term completion
- Nonprofit exposure
- Resume-building professional experience
- Loan forbearance and interest accured paid on qualified student loans upon successful term completion
- On-site orientation and ongoing monthly training provided by NYC Service
- Additional training and professional support at host site
- Childcare assistance, if eligible
- Health coverage (no premium or monthly enrollment fees)
- Eligibility & Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States
- Have successfully obtained a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to the start of thr program
- Agree to and pass a criminal background check
- Abillity to serve full-time for the full program term (generally Monday to Friday, 9AM-5PM)
- A strong motivation for making a positive difference in New York City
- Willingness to learn new skills and improve upon existing ones
- Must complete a total of 1,200 hours
