Met Council has been a resource for poor and underserved communities throughout New York City for 50 years and is widely regarded as a best-in-class relief organization. We help more than 300,000 low-income New Yorkers a year create pathways to self-sufficiency through a comprehensive, coordinated array of services including emergency food, affordable housing, crisis assistance, benefits enrollment, social services for senior and Holocaust survivors, family violence prevention services, and minor home repairs for low-income seniors and the disabled. More than 90% of Met Council’s clients live below 200% of the federal poverty level, and include immigrants, seniors aging in place, the working poor and unemployed, households in crisis and all of those in need. Met Council treats every individual served with dignity and respect and provides services to all those who come to us regardless of background.
